Common Questions

How does powder coating compare to paint coating?

For fabrication projects, powder coating is better than paint. It generally has a longer lifespan and is more cost-effective. The right powder coating techniques can give your metal product an ideal finish.

How long does powder coating last?

For durability, powder coating is an excellent choice for your project. Different powder mixtures make the surface more resistant to scratches. The powders stick to the metal using an electrostatic charge and are cured in place, allowing for thicker coats than painting.

How can powder coating be repaired?

After enough wear and tear powder coating can begin to chip. You can touch up scratched powder coats with paint if necessary, but it is less reliable than powder coating. If your powder-coated product has begun to chip or rust, it is best to get a new powdered coat professionally done. Most powder coats last between 10 and 20 years, so this should not be a common issue.

Benefits of Powder Coating

Materials We Work With

Our powder coating services are suitable for various materials. We can protect your projects using mild steel, aluminium, and galvanised steel. Stainless Steel can also be powder coated after a light surface abrasion.

Custom Colour Options

We offer a diverse range of colours at Metal-Tech Industries. If you don’t see the perfect match, we can help you develop a custom colour to ensure the bright finish you desire.

Superior Surfaces

Powder coating can make the surface of your product stand out. With a thicker coat than other techniques, it creates a tough layer that is resistant to scratching and rust.

Process Overview

Our powder coating process is comprehensive, ensuring each step meets your specifications. Products are placed on a conveyor, facilitating smooth transportation through every stage.

Preparation

The first part of powder coating your products is preparation. We use a chemical process to clean the material, removing any dirt, corrosion or other imperfections. Chemical cleaning of the material is a crucial part of the powder coating process.

Pre-Coating Priming

The next step is priming the surface of your product. This step smooths the surface, ensuring an even application of the powder.

Powder Coat Application

We apply the powder coat to your product’s surface using spray guns. The powder is electrostatically applied across the entire surface.

Curing

After applying the powder coat, the conveyor transports the product to the curing oven. This crucial step ensures the powder coat bonds securely.
