FAQs

Which is better: powder coating or paint coating?

Powder coating is a superior choice for fabrication projects compared to paint. It typically lasts longer and is more cost-efficient. Achieving the perfect finish for your metal product is feasible with the right powder coating techniques.

How durable is powder coating?

For durability, powder coating is an excellent choice for your project. Different powder mixtures make the surface more resistant to scratches. The powders stick to the metal using an electrostatic charge and are cured in place, allowing for thicker coats than painting.

How can powder coating be repaired?

Powder coating can start to chip after significant wear and tear. Touching up with paint is possible but less reliable than powder coating. For chipped or rusting powder-coated products, it’s best to have a new coat professionally applied. Typically, powder coats last between 10 and 20 years, so this is a rare issue.

Advantages of Powder Coating

Materials We Work With

Our powder coating can be applied to different materials, including mild steel, aluminium, and galvanised steel. Stainless Steel can also be powder coated following a light surface abrasion.

Custom Colour Options

At Metal-Tech Industries we offer a diverse range of colours for you to choose from. If you don’t find the perfect match, we can help you create a custom colour to get the bright finish you need.

High-Quality Finishes

Powder coating enhances the surface of your product, providing a thicker coat than other methods. It forms a durable layer that resists scratches and rust.

Process Overview

The powder coating process we use is thorough, with each step designed to meet your specifications. Products are moved along a conveyor, guaranteeing smooth transport through each step.

Preparation

The first part of powder coating your products is preparation. We use a chemical process to clean the material, removing any dirt, corrosion or other imperfections. Chemical cleaning of the material is a crucial part of the powder coating process.

Surface Priming

The next step is priming the surface of your product. This step smooths the surface, ensuring an even application of the powder.

Electrostatic Powder Coating

Here we apply the powder coat across your product’s surface. This is applied across the entire surface electrostatically with spray guns.

Powder Curing

Following the application of the powder coat, the product is conveyed to the curing oven. This essential step in the bonding process secures the powder coat.
