Common Questions

How does powder coating compare to paint coating?

Powder coating is a better option for your fabrication projects than paint. Powder coating often lasts longer than paint coats and is generally more cost-efficient. Giving your metal product the perfect finish is possible with the right powder coating techniques.

How long does powder coating last?

Powder coating is highly durable for your project. Different powder mixtures make it resistant to scratches. Powders adhere to the metal via electrostatic charge and are cured, resulting in thicker coats compared to painting.

Can you repair a powder coating?

Over time, powder coating may chip due to wear and tear. Scratched powder coats can be touched up with paint, but this is not as reliable as powder coating. If chipping or rust occurs, a new powder coat should be professionally applied. Most powder coats last 10 to 20 years, so this issue is uncommon.

Powder Coating Benefits

A Range of Materials

Our powder coating can be applied to different materials, including mild steel, aluminium, and galvanised steel. Stainless Steel can also be powder coated following a light surface abrasion.

Custom Colours

Metal-Tech Industries offers a broad spectrum of colours for you to choose from. If the perfect match isn’t available, we can help you create a custom colour to get the vibrant finish you need.

Superior Surfaces

With powder coating, the surface of your product will stand out. The technique provides a thicker coat than others, resulting in a tough, scratch-resistant, and rust-resistant layer.

Our Process

Our powder coating process is comprehensive, ensuring each step meets your specifications. Products are placed on a conveyor, facilitating smooth transportation through every stage.

Pre-Coating Preparation

The initial step in powder coating is preparing your products. We employ a chemical process to clean the material, removing dirt, corrosion, and other imperfections. This step is vital to ensure a successful powder coating.

Priming the Surface

The next step is priming the surface of your product. This step smooths the surface, ensuring an even application of the powder.

Powder Coating

Here we apply the powder coat across your product’s surface. This is applied across the entire surface electrostatically with spray guns.

Final Curing

Once the powder coat has been applied, the conveyor carries the product through to the curing oven. This is a crucial part of the bonding process that secures the powder coat in place.
