Deburring and Edge Finishing Brisbane

Overview

Even with the most sophisticated punching and laser-cutting machines, sharp edges and burrs are occasionally left on the edges of sheet metal components. To prevent injury and to improve quality, our team deburrs all parts unless we are requested not to.

At Metal-Tech Industries we take OH&S very seriously and have invested in automated deburring machinery which deburrs sheet metal components to the highest quality and consistency. In addition to our automated deburring machinery, we can manually deburr your components if the shape or size is not suitable for automation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there other types of deburring?

Yes. Along with manual and mechanical deburring, there is also thermal deburring and electrochemical deburring.

Thermal deburring is essentially when the burrs and edges are burned away for a smooth finish. Electrochemical deburring is when chemicals are used for the same purpose. At Metal-Tech Industries we do not offer these two methods.

Is manual deburring better than mechanical deburring?

While there are benefits to both, mechanical deburring is more streamlined and consistent. Manual deburring relies on an individual using a deburring tool, such as a file, and precision to manually sand away the burrs and edges. This can make each product slightly different.

Do all fabrication projects need to be deburred?

While several manufacturing methods and techniques, such as CNC laser cutting, reduce burrs they can still develop. This is why we use our automated machine and expert team to deburr all products before completion.

Benefits of Edge Finishing and Deburring

Reduced Errors

With our automated metal deburring machines you reduce the chances of human error impacting your products.

Aesthetics

Deburring ensures your products are aesthetically appealing, keeping them uniform.

Safety

Deburring metal keeps it safe to handle, with edge rounding to soften the metal parts and reduce the risk of injury.

How Edge Finishing and Deburring Works

The edge finishing and deburring processes involve several steps depending on the methods you use, such as manual or mechanical deburring.

Deburring

The sheet metal or product is individually assessed for burrs or sharp edges. The machine is programmed to suit the material and size.

Processing

The material is secured inside the machine where it uses quality components to begin deburring parts. Once deburring is complete, whether through mechanical means or with deburring tools, finishing processes then enhance the surface quality.

 Final Inspection

With years of industry experience, our team inspects the product to ensure it meets the highest standards before delivery.
